Power Trip Troubleshooting

Identify and resolve power trips with these steps.

Possible Causes

It is common for the earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB) to trip during heavy rain or low grounding conditions. This is a safety feature that prevents voltage surges during such weather.

Identifying a Power Trip

During a power trip, two indicators on the inverter should be seen:

  • Green light blinking

  • Orange light present

Inverter

Step 1 - Main Distribution Board

  • Locate your main distribution board (DB) at level 1 of your home and verify the position of the PV solar circuit breakers.

Step 2 - Sub Distribution Board

  • If the sub distribution board is at the same level as the solar inverter, verify the position of its PV solar circuit breakers as well.

Ignore this step if there’s only one distribution board at your home.

Step 3 - Circuit Breaker

  • Switch up any circuit breakers which may have flipped down.

Step 4 - DC Switch

  • Examine and ensure that the DC switch positions are all flipped up.

Step 5 - AC Switch

  • Examine and ensure the AC switch remains on.

Step 6 - Inverter Synchronizing

  • The green light indicator should turn solid from blinking after approximately 3 minutes, verifying that the inverter is functioning normally.
