Local conditions matter
Residential solar systems in Singapore operate under conditions that differ significantly from temperate regions. Strong year-round sunlight, high ambient temperatures, persistent humidity, and dense urban surroundings all influence how solar systems perform over time.
Roof surfaces in Singapore can reach high temperatures during the day, particularly on landed homes with direct sun exposure. Sustained heat affects how efficiently solar panels operate and how well they maintain output over time. In practice, long-term thermal stability often matters more than peak efficiency figures on paper.
High humidity, frequent rain, and airborne moisture place additional stress on solar components over many years of operation. Material selection, encapsulation quality, and protection against moisture ingress become critical factors for residential systems designed to last decades.
Unlike open-field solar farms, residential rooftops in Singapore are often affected by partial shading from nearby buildings, trees, parapet walls, water tanks, and air-conditioning units. Even small shaded areas can influence overall system output, making layout planning and system design just as important as panel selection.
Because of these factors, panels and system designs that appear similar on datasheets can perform very differently once installed on real homes. If you’d like a deeper look at how different solar panels compare under Singapore conditions, explore our independent guide on how to choose the right solar panels for Singapore homes.
Step 1: Roof & Structural Assessment
We inspect your roof material, pitch, shading, and usable surface area. For landed homes, we also review structural loading and cable routing options.
Step 2: Engineering Design & Solar Modelling
UTICA® engineers model sunlight exposure, panel layout, shading impact and inverter placement to maximise system output and safety.
Step 3: Proposal & Transparent Breakdown
You receive a detailed design, estimated generation, component list, mounting method and an all-inclusive quotation.
Step 4: Installation with Roof & Safety Protection
Certified installers follow UTICA® workmanship standards: waterproofing, safe anchoring for your roof type, proper cable routing, isolator placement and leak-prevention methods.
Step 5: Testing, Commissioning & Monitoring Setup
We run system tests, verify inverter connection, and configure monitoring tools so you can view your energy generation in real time.
Step 6: After-Installation Support
Our Support Centre helps with troubleshooting, performance checks, inverter resets and long-term maintenance.

How much roof space is needed?
Typical UTICA® systems start from about 16 m² for small 3 kWp setups (based on our published system specifications), and 60 - 90 m² for larger systems on landed homes. Exact requirements depend on roof shape, shading and orientation. A free on-site assessment will confirm the usable roof area.
Does UTICA® provide after-installation support?
Yes, our Support Centre assists with inverter resets, performance checks, monitoring issues, panel cleaning guidance and component troubleshooting.
Do I need approval for installation?
Most landed homes do not require special approval. Conservation houses follow URA guidelines, and we advise homeowners where necessary.
What happens if a part fails?
UTICA® provides warranty support and can assist with inverter servicing, panel issues, and replacement of failed components.
